Bullitt

Car guy. This is a universal term applied to those of us that really obsess over automobiles. This post is a little thumbs up to my daily rig – a 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt. This car was designed by the Ford engineers to be an homage to the famous 1968 Ford Mustang 390 GT in the Steve McQueen movie “Bullitt”. All the badges and running horse mustangs have been removed from the car, giving it an all business look. I drive this beast everyday…and it is a blast!

The Bullitt edition Mustang was limited to 7700 examples. The car was offered in Highland Green and Black only. This car is number 0226. The car has an aluminum-block 4.6-liter V-8, Ford Racing cold air intake, a snappier throttle mapping and a redline raised 250 rpm to 6500 — this translates to a stout 315 bhp at 6000 rpm and 325 lb.-ft. of torque and a 13.7 second quarter mile. Gears are selected via a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission, and the shifter is topped with a polished aluminum shift ball designed specifically for the 2008 Bullitt all this goes to a 3.73:1 rear end. All standard. The car also has firmer springs, struts and shocks, a strut tower brace, high-performance front brake pads plus all the standard goodies — A/C premium stereo, leather, PB/PS/PB, rear defrost, etc. One of the best features of this model is that the exhaust is tuned to sound exactly like the 390 GT from the movie of the same name — it is a 3 inch diameter exhaust with an H pipe and it sounds incredible.
